Clarkson University's Institute for STEM Education is a leader in the field. CU has several K-12 STEM outreach initiatives throughout the State of New York. Through project-based learning and after-school programs, CU has provided hands-on experience in science, technology, engineering and math through a variety of exciting and engaging programs. CU is continuing its tradition of outreach through quality STEM programming by sponsoring this after-school program in robotics right here in Manhattan. The robotics summer camp will be held at Our Saviour's Atonement Church Cornerstone Center on 187th and Bennett Avenue.
Lego Mindstorms EV3® is the latest generation robotics kit in Lego's Mindstorms line. There are many competitions using this set. Among them are the First Lego League® and the World Robot Olympiad. The EV3 system is both exciting and accessible an ideal way for kids to get into robotics or deepen their interest.
This is a great way to add some excitement to the 'dog days' of summer! STEM activities are also a great way to refresh some of those skills that have gotten 'rusty' over the summer in a fun and collaborative environment.
We will be using the LEGO EV3® system to introduce campers to the FUNdamentals of robotics.
